Social networking — does it work?  Speaking from my own standpoint, I have to say it is beginning to work.  But it only works depending on how much time you put into posting to all your social networking spot.  Yeah, it’s work.  And it takes time out of your precious, expensive “work day”.  LOL  And how do I do it, you may ask?  Sadly, I am terrible about social networking but I am getting better.

You need to sit down with yourself and make a list of what social networks you already use and what you may want to use.  So my list consists of Facebook, Twitter and Plurk.  What about myspace, you ask?  Okay — my honest opinion?  I call it crapspace.  Do I have one?  yes, I do.  Do I use it?  Haven’t logged in to it for months.  It is easily spammed and easily phished.  So I don’t use it.  But that does not go to say that others don’t have fantastic luck with it.  I can only say use your own judgement.  … so back to my list.

My Facebook is about me — no thanks to former high school mates.  it was a great way to get in contact for our 20 year class reunion … did I just date myself???  well if you read a past post you already know I just turned 40 — wait, I mean 36.  Yeah, that’s right!  HAHAHA  Any how, I have gradually added photos — and working on more.  But I use that for me, my family, pets, friends, and others.  I also set up a Facebook Page for GRT.  My Twitter and Plurk tend to be about just about anything.  Not just GRT.

I also have a FlickR account for photos — this is perfect for my widget below — scroll down to the bottom and you will see some pictures from my Flickr.  I am still in the processes of working on pictures so you will see many many more.  Of course this goes for Facebook too.  LOL

Okay, I still haven’t said how I schedule this into my day.  HAHA  Let me tell you, this is hard to do.  But you need to be disciplined.  And for me, I need to make a list of what to do.  It is easier to put it in my daily planner.  So that I see what I need to do “today”.  I find it easiest to pick a day for each one.  But of course that never happens.  HAHA  But posting at least once a day to each sourse is good.  This is the first week on my new schedule.  And it worked until yesterday.  But I got back on track this morning.  Even after fixing a template fubar!  But it got done.

As for anyone else, you need to devote time to it, in order for it to work for you.  Once a week, I search out new friends on Twitter, Plurk and Facebook — I search out by subjects.  and this can be anything from my hobbies to my spiritual path, candle lovers to pet lovers, entrepreneurs to .. well you get the picture.  But again, it is all about the time you put into it.  And I think I am improving.
